Trump making 'joke' about Canada becoming 51st state is 'reassuring': Ambassador Hillman
Canada’s ambassador to the U.S. insists it’s a good sign U.S. president-elect Donald Trump feels “comfortable” joking with Canadian officials, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Most Canadians minimally affected by Canada Post strike, survey finds
As the strike by Canada Post workers nears the end of its third week, a new poll by Angus Reid finds Canadians split in their sympathies between the Crown corporation and its striking employees. However, the same poll also noted that a sizeable majority of the more than 3,000 surveyed said they were minimally affected by the strike, or in some cases not at all. Almost a third (32 per cent) said they hadn’t been affected at all, while almost half (47 per cent) answered that yes, they’d been affected, but only a little. Only 21 per cent said that a lot of mail they’d sent or been waiting for had been delayed.

Survey reveals many Americans lack alone time during the holidays
Some say the holidays are the most wonderful time of the year. But for others, the hectic holiday season may be the most stressful.
Nearly half of Americans are still paying off 2023 holiday debt, survey says
A recent survey from WalletHub found that nearly 50% of Americans are still paying off debt from last year’s holidays. That’s double the percentage who were paying old holiday debt at this time in 2023. “People want to have a good holiday. They want to celebrate with their kids and other family members and friends,” said Ted Rossman, senior industry analyst at Bankrate. “It’s one of the two main times of the year that people splurge. The other one would be summer vacation. But holidays are really No. 1 in terms of a big spending spike.” “Six in 10 people with credit card debt have had it for at least a year. That’s up 10 percentage points from three years ago,” Rossman said. “It’s easy to see how somebody would be paying off this holiday season a year from now, or worse unfortunately.”
