Mel Brooks (full name Melvin Kaminksy) - born June 28, 1926 (age 97). Brooks is an American actor, comedian, filmmaker, songwriter, and playwright. He is best known as a creator of comic parodies. His films include The Producers (1967), The Twelve Chairs (1970), Blazing Saddles (1974), Young Frankenstein (1974), Silent Movie (1976), High Anxiety (1977), History of the World, Part I (1981), Spaceballs (1987), and Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993). A musical adaptation of his first film, The Producers, ran on Broadway from 2001 to 2007 and was remade into a musical film in 2005. Brooks created the hit television comedy series Get Smart (1965-1970) with comedy writer Buck Henry which starred Don Adams. Jimmy Carter - born October 1, 1924 (age 99). Carter was the 39th President of the United States from January 20, 1977 to January 20, 1981. He was the Governor of Georgia from January 12, 1971 to January 14, 1975. He was diagnosed with brain cancer in August 2015. After undergoing treatment that included targeted radiation, the former president announced he was cancer-free in early December 2015. On February 18, 2023, President Carter decided to forgo any life prolonging treatment and spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care. As it turns out, there have been more final days than he or anyone around him anticipated as he defies the odds and has now been in hospice are for over a year.
