Born in New Jersey, Scott Wiener grew up in New York City. Before graduating from Syracuse University in 2004, he toured the country with a rock band during college breaks, and, "Everybody in every city told us that we had to try the local pizza places". Wiener started to go out of his way to find cool spots and good pizza. Noticing Scott's fondness for checking out pizzerias, a friend made a custom pizza journal for Scott to record the various types he ate. Do you like pizza?

On a trip to Israel in 2008 Scott passed a take-out shop that displayed their pizza boxes on the wall to indicate the size of the pies. He was intrigued by the yellow boxes with blue writing that didn't look like the pizza boxes he grew up with. He started to collect boxes he found interesting. Passing by a shop, would you notice that pizza boxes were an odd color?
