In true-to-form fashion, Trump sent out a tweet Friday, saying that Time magazine informed him he was "probably" going to be granted the title of Person Of The Year for the second year in a row. He tweeted: "I said probably is no good and took a pass." He also went on to tweet that he "would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. Thanks anyway!" Time Magazine bestows the "honor" of their cover Person Of The Year to the person who has the most influence in the news for that year. Trump was last year's cover, joining the dubious ranks of some rather questionable recipients, such as Adolf Hitler, in 1938, and Joseph Stalin, in 1939 and 1942. Trump certainly seems to have a love/hate relationship with the press and media outlets. On one hand, he constantly says they fabricate stories and are out to undermine his presidency, and on the other hand, he seems totally obsessed with how many cover stories he can rack up, including fabricating some of his own stories. He has falsely claimed to hold the record for Time cover appearances, and was revealed earlier this year to have displayed fake issues of Time with himself on the cover at several of his private golf clubs. For their part, Time Magazine said they do not know where Trump got his information about the cover, as the magazine typically interviews multiple candidates for the Person of the Year issue, but no one knows until December 6th who that cover will be. They added that it's likely that the president could be a finalist, but he doubts that editors would consider Trump for the recognition two years in a row.
