The Road to El Dorado is a 2000 animated musical movie featuring songs by Elton John and score by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight films). Kevin Kline, Kenneth Branagh, Rosie Perez provide the voices for the main cast. While I know not all into animated films or consider kiddie stuff, one I rather like the story and themes. "Our glorious city was build by the divinities. By gods who saw fit to bestow the gift of a paradise. Peaceful and harmonious, upon us mere mortals below..."

Ad-lib? One thing I like about this movie is the dialog seems so natural, as if the cast were given the premise of the scene and ad-libbed with material selected to animate to. This mock sword fight early on is an example. Can't think of many others than Kline and Branagh coming up with such lines. In any case, do you find you like shows / films the cast or actors just make material up on the spot based on a situation?

It's Tough to Be a God - The tale seems to take it's inspiration from the Bing Crosby / Bob Hope 'Road to' movies with a bit of Rudyard Kipling's 'The Man Who Would be King' tossed in. Small time con artists Tulio and Miguel win a map claimed to lead to El Dorado, the legendary city of gold. Turns out it's for real, and with Chel as their guide, pose as gods for a while. Chel and Chief Tannabok pretty much know these guys are BS as gods from the start, but a feast held in their honor which is one of the more funny tunes and sequences. Suppose you were actually a god, would you find it a bit of a pain in the arse at times the matters involved?

Some Day Out of the Blue - Problem is, Tulio wants to split with Chel and gold, while Miguel rather likes the place and it's people. Like both the lyrical and visual images in this one. What would your choice be, hang around, or split with gold and a gal or guy you like?

Friends Never Say Goodbye - gets to the point Tulio and Miguel are ready to go their own ways, but other matters arise in the form of Conquistador Cortez. Ever known folk who were once friends you split with and not seen / heard from in years for whatever reason?
