The Wicker Man is a 1973 film written by Anthony Shaffer and directed by Robin Hardy which delves into old fertility / harvest rituals. Not sure how to classify as odd mix of mystery, thriller, music and horror. "Come, it is time to keep your appointment with the wicker man..."

The tale - has Sgt. Howie (Edward Woodward) traveling to an island governed by Lord Summerisle (Christopher Lee) from report of a missing girl. Folk there oddly not much cooperative or concerned. As Howie delves deeper, finds there may be something going on with the island and it's people thought long past. What is your take on old practices? Evil or just different than now or what one may feel?

The music - while Paul Giovanni did the score, there are various songs woven in that as far as I know are traditional or written for the film. The maypole is a phallic symbol children would dance around with ribbons suggesting fertility of life from that standpoint. There's a another tune about the female side of this. So what's your thought, agree with there are generative male and female sides of life?

Burning Man - such structures go way back to the 18th century. Offerings inside such as animals (or human on rare occasion) in hopes of a good harvest. The film also has a keg of ale offered to the sea. These days, you may have heard of such a fest in the desert, but nothing pagan about it. An artistic / interactive / cultural event with the burning of such a figure to end it all. Ever to such an event?
