Rap is probably the musical genre that gets the most hate on here, which makes sense given the demographics of this site. However, not all Rap is created equally. I specifically enjoy both Eminem and Kendrick Lamar (whose songs would definitely upset many here, so I won't be posting any songs here)-- both who I feel are genius song writers. This one by Eminem is one I really enjoy. Forewarned, the lyrics may upset those who don't like swearing. And I have included a N/A for those who just want the points. Do you like this song?

Gangsta's Paradise by Coolio was featured in the movie "Dangerous Minds" back in 1995, and was perhaps the first time I actually liked a rap song. Gangsta's Paradise became a protest song that criticized violence and life in the marginalized neighborhoods of the United States, focusing on the need for social change. Do you like the song, and did you ever see the movie?

Whenever someone says that there are no good rap songs, I suggest listening to this song by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, which was a massive hit for them in 2012, and an unofficial anthem for marriage equality, and same sex marriage. It features the beautiful voice of Mary Lambert, who also co-wrote the song. It is a bit more hip-hop than rap, but equally both. Do you like this song?

If you've ever had the honour to see Missy Elliott live, you know she puts on quite a show. Regarded as one of the first ladies of rap, her lyricism is astounding. Do you like this song?
