Tim Hortons, the coffee and doughnut chain that seems to be on every street corner in Canada is famous for a lot of things: Coffee, launching the phrase "double double" and Timbits, but its next venture is decidedly out there. Tim Hortons is celebrating its 60th anniversary with a musical "The Last Timbit" coming to the Elgin Theatre in Toronto, Ontario this June. The musical runs from June 26 to 30, and tickets are selling like (well maybe not like hotcakes) doughnuts. Have you heard about this musical and do you plan to go?

The production is loosely based on a 2010 snowstorm that was so bad, drivers on a highway east of Sarnia, Ont,. were forced to hunker down in cars and others had to wait out the inclement weather at a local Tim Hortons. And although its premise may be unusual, the talent associated with the musical is first rate. Michael Rubinoff, the theatre producer who turned the story of passengers on planes diverted to Gander, Nfld. after the 9/11 attacks in New York into the hit musical Come From Away, is the producer, with a cast that features Stratford and Shaw festival regulars Andrew Broderick and DeAnn deGruijter, as well as Broadway stars Kimberly-Ann Truong, Jake Epstein and Chilina Kennedy. Tim Hortons celebrated its official 60th anniversary on May 17. The very first Tim Hortons was opened on that day in 1964 in Hamilton, Ontario. A cup of coffee and a donut cost only 10 cents each. Tim Horton was a hockey player with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but sadly did not live to see the huge expansion of his restaurant chain. He died in a car accident near St. Catharines, Ontario, on February 21, 1974. He had four daughters, represented by the four donuts in the original logo. Did you know this about the man who started this chain?

The first year of the iconic "Roll Up the Rim to Win" contest, the biggest prize you could win was… drumroll please…a pack of Timbits! Things have gotten substantially better over the years; this year This year's Roll Up To Win prizes include a 2024 Jeep Wrangler Sport and two Universal Orlando Resort Vacation Packages.
