Results: Elsbeth

Network TV series have a tough time getting an audience as of late, with all the streaming options, but one series has proven, just like its heroine, to be standing out. Elsbeth, on CBS, is a unique breakout—a broadcast TV ratings success that thrives on bright colors, quips, and kindness. CBS has a bona fide hit on its hands with Elsbeth. With Chicago lawyer turned murder-solver Elsbeth Tascioni in the lead, Elsbeth is a rather light, warm-hearted series in the vein of Columbo and Poker Face. Have you watched this series?

With a brief appearance, clocking in at less than three minutes of screen time, Elsbeth Tascioni (played by Carrie Preston) gave main character energy from the start — even if it was unknown to the actor playing her, or the writers who created her. Late in the first season of "The Good Wife," the CBS legal drama that premiered in 2009 this character uttered a perfectly random observation: "these are beautiful bookcases" — and left a lasting impression. Do you remember this character from "The Good Wife" appearance?

Online, fans wonder if Elsbeth is on the autism spectrum, or has attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and say that they feel seen by Preston's portrayal. The show's creators avoid giving it a name. "We don't diagnose her. No one does". She's meant to represent anyone who "marches to their own drummer" and "sees the world a little bit differently which is perfectly fine". Do you think part of the show's success is that the character is relatable to a lot of people who feel they don't fit into society and specific norms?
