The Lancaster, Pa., police say they have identified a suspect who they say pretended to be a farmers market worker before fleeing with cash Jan. 30, thanks to a witness who drew a picture from memory. The sketch, which police said was "amateurish and cartoonish", along with a physical description of the thief, reminded at least one officer of an encounter with Hung Phuoc Nguyen, 44. Police then showed the witness photos of possible suspects, including Nguyen. He was then identified and a warrant went out for his arrest. Do you think it's surprising that this suspect was identified from this sketch?

This is probably one of the worst police sketch of all time. When police in New York arrested Salvatore Perrone in 2012, on charges of shooting three Brooklyn shopkeepers to death, the focus was on the grisly murders of the merchants as they worked in their clothing stores. However, the initial sketch of the likely suspect shows the suspect as a young African American man wearing sunglasses. Perrone, a white, 64-year-old garment salesman with thinning hair, could not look more different. Are you surprised that witnesses could be this off in describing a suspect?

A caricature is a picture, description, or imitation of a person or thing in which certain striking characteristics are exaggerated in order to create a comic or grotesque effect. Often street artists do these in tourist areas, quickly and more often than not, poorly. Have you ever had one done?
