Dow Gardens was started in 1899 by Herbert Dow, founder of The Dow Chemical Company. The Gardens, located in Midland, Michigan, was originally developed on eight acres of flat and sandy land. It's been passed down from generation to generation and is now a 110-acre botanical garden full of hills, ponds, and currently contains over 1700 varieties of plants hardy in mid-Michigan. I thought this would be a great place to visit for our fall color tour and it did not disappoint. The newest renovation/addition to the property is the nation's longest canopy walk. It's 1,400 feet long and soars up to 40 feet above the ground. Would you like to take a walk on this canopy?
