Results: Man Pays $540 To Buy Cookies So the Girls Can "Get Out of the Cold"

Have you ever bought Girl Scout cookies?

The girls were standing outside of a local supermarket in Greenville, South Carolina in 34 degree temperatures. The man, who never identified himself, returned a short time later after purchasing a few boxes of cookies and told the girls to pack them all up because he was going to buy them. "Pack up all of your cookies. I'm taking them all so y'all can get out of this cold." he told them. The purchase cost him $540, but it worked. The Girl Scouts, with all their cookies sold, had little choice but to get out of the cold and head home. If you were in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, or any other similar organization, did you ever stand out in the bitter cold for fundraising?

The troop sold about 221 packages of cookies that night, a number that would have likely taken about another day and a half of efforts to sell if not for the man, who didn't give his name. "We actually had to cancel some of our boost sales this weekend because we didn't have cookies to sell at the booth because he purchased them all," said Dillard, one of the Girl Scout's mother. This season the troop has surpassed their goal of 3,200 boxes — selling about 5,000 so far, according to Dillard. As for the good Samaritan, Dillard snapped a photo of him smiling with two girls in the troop (above), but he revealed little about himself. "The only information we got out of the man was that he owns several businesses and that he was going to take the cookies to the businesses," said Dillard. Do you think this man didn't share his name in order to be humble and just do the good deed without the focus being put on him?

Even though she didn't find out the benefactor's name, he gave off a great impression: "That man was just a very kind, sincere and humble man who loves children," Dillard said. Do you hope to leave a legacy with your actions so others will think well of you when you are remembered?
