This type of reef is a unique burial idea that also aims to help the environment. Located 40 ft below the surface, a man-made reef is created where divers, several times a month, come to deposit stone urns containing ashes of the recently departed. The idea is to create a new eco-system and provide a unique and permanent resting place that family can actually visit through diving. The Department of Environmental Resource Management in the US recently did a marine study and found that marine life had gone from close to zero to thousands in two years that the Neptune Memorial Reef had been in existence. Do you think this type of burial is a good idea?

The Neptune Memorial Reef is the world's largest man-made reef. When complete, it will have transformed more than 16 acres of barren ocean floor. Coral and sponge growth has occurred and as the reef grows and changes it provides a unique attraction for underwater life and tourist divers who can explore it's eerie beauty. It is designed like a regular cemetary with gates and paths and shaped monuments. Would you consider being buried in this type of cemetary?

Ashes are mixed with cement specially designed to be placed under water. It can then be cast in whatever shape desired, such as a lion memorial which is the most expensive. A team of divers than places the memorial in to its allotted space that has been chosen and a plaque made from a mix of copper and bronze is also attached with the name, date of birth and epithet of the deceased. Would you be curious to dive down and explore this type of graveyard?
