Velvet ants come in various colors: white, orange, blue, yellow, gray & red. The velvet ant is not a true ant. The females are wingless, large, multi-colored and hairy. The velvet ant is not social. They live a solitary life and have no nests or colonies. And sources state that they are classified as insects ==> wasps. Have you heard of velvet ants before?
